You’re either climbing or descending, and this loop makes that clear almost immediately. The first climb heads up to the Rennsteig, the ridge that runs along the spine of the forest. I crawled up it, as usual, but once you’re on top the road rolls through quiet woodland, with occasional views across the valleys below.</p> <p>Eventually the road turns downhill for one of those descents that seems to go on forever. Down in the valley, at the lowest point of the whole ride, I stopped at Paulinzella Abbey. It’s just numbers. So I built <strong>Ride Studio</strong> to turn those numbers back into the ride.</p> <p>Here’s what it does: you upload your GPX track — from your bike computer, your watch, wherever — and Ride Studio plays it back as an animated replay over the map. The camera follows your route, your performance data traces along with it, and your photos and videos appear pinned exactly where you took them. I’m a road cyclist based in Berlin — a city whose cycling culture I’ve come to love — riding mostly solo, sometimes with the local group, and now and then heading out with my partner for the properly epic stuff. My favourite terrain is a switchback mountain pass. I’m not a great climber - I usually crawl uphill, but I never get tired of looking back and seeing the road snaking through the valley below. Wherever I travel, I try to take my bike (not always). I wanted to show my rides properly, not just a static map screenshot, so I built a replay: upload a GPX track and it animates the ride over the map, with speed and elevation traced along the route.
