About
I’m the one rider, one behind the camera and one keyboard behind Cyclix.
I’ve been riding for more than ten years, and somewhere along the way cycling stopped being a hobby and became the way I see the world. I’m a road cyclist based in Berlin — a city whose cycling culture I’ve come to love — riding mostly solo, sometimes with the local group, and now and then heading out with my partner for the properly epic stuff. My favourite terrain is a switchback mountain pass. I’m not a great climber - I usually crawl uphill, but I never get tired of looking back and seeing the road snaking through the valley below. Wherever I travel, I try to take my bike (not always). Cycling, travel, and photography usually end up going together.
I like to work with my own hands, too. I fix my own bikes, and I built the one I ride. That same itch is what started Ride Studio — I wanted a way to visualise my rides for my YouTube videos, and halfway through building it I realised other cyclists might want the same thing. So it became a tool for everyone. That’s Cyclix in a nutshell: a home base for my rides and routes, the videos some of them turn into, and the software I build for cyclists — a personal project, built in the open, one ride and one commit at a time.
Where’s it all heading? I don’t know yet, I’m not big planner — and that’s part of the fun. If something here is useful to you, that’s the whole point.
